Giclee on canvas:

Giclee (pronounced gee'clay) is an image transfer from an original painting, retaining all hues and tonalities of the original. My preference is to print them on canvas, as they are then identical in colour, and in texture. For me, this maintains the integrity of the painting.

The advantage for the buyer, is that a giclee can be purchased for as little as 15% of the original.

Originals may also be printed on paper, this is not a giclee, but is the buyers' choice.

I would not advise that watercolours, graphics or gouache be printed on canvas, These three mediums are painted/printed on fine art paper at the start, and is most appropriate. Again, this is the choice of the buyer.

Digital photographic transfers may have a maxium size. If one wishes a larger size, please indicate your preference.

Not mounted

Canvas prints that are not mounted as well as prints on paper will include a 1 to 2 inch border going around the print area designated in an order. In most cases these prints will be shipped in a sturdy cardboard shipping tube. Orders with a large volume of prints may be shipped flat if the print's size is not too large for a box.

Standard

The more common method for a canvas print which will be framed, this style secures the canvas with staples visible on the side. Since canvas stretches a slight amount of print bleed may show on the sides. Because the stapes are visible most people will frame their print. When searching for a frame make sure you find a frame deep enough since the mounted print is approximately 3/4 inches deep. This option is not available if any side of the print is 30 inches or greater. The frame thickness is 3/4 inch

 White side wrap

Unlike the standard wrap method the white sides wrapped print has the staples in the back. A slight amount of print bleed may wrap over the sides. For larger prints, this method provides more even tension all the way around and also prevent bowing in of the stretcher bars. Because the stapes are in the back some people will hang these prints up without a frame. The frame thickness is 3/4 inch.

 Gallery wrap

This method is used when you do not plan to place your print in a frame but want to hang it up immediately. Approximately 1 inch of the image on every side will wrap around therefore the image itself will need to be slightly larger than the mounting framework. The frame thickness is 3/4 inch.

 Museum wrap

These prints are on a mounting frame with a thickness of 1-1/2 inch deep. This method is used when you do not plan to place you print in a frame but want to hang it up immediately. Approximately 1-3/4 inch of the image on every side will wrap around therefore the image itself will be printed slightly larger than the mounting framework.
